I enjoyed reading this look back, written during such a difficult time for you, your household, and your city. It makes for a poignant read. I am glad you have come around to the Oxford comma. One of my favorites.

Ah, the good old days! Love how you weave the past with the present, and your love for memories with the question of what to bring, what to leave in the very real possibility, not just a thought experiment, that you may have to evacuate now as the fires burn around you. I admire your calm, thoughtful reflections.

Amazed by your level head and dry sense of humor in both 2005 and twenty years later, having them severely tested during this frightening time. Thank you for sharing this. We (on the East coast) are all thinking of the people of L.A. and sending them wishes for strength and recovery.
